Staff Breakfast WeekAugust 8, 2005
Volunteers coordinate breakfast for the School staff during the week prior to school opening. Volunteer responsibilities:
» Plan and coordinate staff breakfasts
» Prepare and deliver the breakfast food and beverages to the School on the assigned days.
Special SalesSale begins August 19, 2005
Orders due September 6, 2005
Special sales volunteers coordinate a back to school fundraiser, such as, candy, magazine and wrapping paper sales. Special sales volunteer responsibilities:
» Distribute the order packets to the students
» Collect and tally the orders
» Submit orders for vendor processing
» Deliver purchased items to students to take home.
Volunteer CoffeeSeptember 2, 2005
Volunteers coordinate a breakfast for the back to school Coffee, which allows parents to volunteer for Parents’ Association events that will be held throughout the school year. Volunteer responsibilities:
» Coordinate additional volunteers to bring breakfast food and beverages
» Set up tables and decorations, food items and beverages
» Clean up the serving areas at the close of the event.
AuctionNovember 11, 2005
Auction Chair(s) and many volunteers assist with the annual auction, the School’s largest fundraiser. Auction chair responsibilities:
» Provide leadership and management
» Prepare financial budget and reports
» Organize committee chairs and volunteers
» Promote the auction to the St. Mark’s community
» Plan and implement auction activities and events
» Solicit gifts and advertisements
» Facilitate the auction event.

Individual auction volunteer responsibilities:
» Chair or participate on an auction committee
» Organize activities and events
» Solicit gifts and advertisements for the auction
» Attend the auction and provide assistance to the auction chair.

OutreachDecember 5-9, 2005
Volunteers organize the Adopt-A-Family program, which collects and wraps gifts for assigned families before the Christmas holidays. Volunteer responsibilities:
» Prepare materials outlining family needs and suggested gift ideas
» Manage the collection and wrapping of gifts
» Distribute gifts to the program director.
International DayJanuary 20, 2006
Volunteers organize this Lower School event, which celebrates countries from around the world. Volunteer responsibilities:
» Organize additional volunteers to support this event
» Collect authentic costumes and distribute to volunteers to wear the day of the event
» Plan and prepare student activities, such as arts and crafts, games, story telling, and presentations in the marketplace
» Transform the campus to appear as different countries from around the world
» Prepare an assortment of international foods for student snacks and refreshments
» Clean up after the event.
Kindergarten Grandparent/Special Friend DayFebruary 3, 2006
Volunteers arrange this ½ day event for kindergarten students and their Grandparents or Special Friend. Volunteer responsibilities:
» Plan and implement the agenda and program activities
» Decorate the Parish Hall for the breakfast reception
» Escort guests to the Eucharist service and student classrooms
» Lead the guests on a tour of the School campus.
Book FairFebruary 27 - March 3, 2006
Volunteers work closely with the Media Center to arrange student activities and the sale of books. Volunteer responsibilities:
» Organize student activities, the family night event and special guest appearances
» Set up the displays for the sale of books
» Sell and tally the book sales, teacher and media center donations
» Clean up after the event.
Framed ArtworkMarch 2006
Volunteers assemble and frame students’ art projects on a single assembly day. Volunteer responsibilities:
» Purchase and set up the supplies on assembly day
» Matte and frame the students’ art projects
» Wrap and deliver the framed art to the student classrooms for student distribution.
Family Fun and Art DayApril 23, 2006
Volunteers organize activities and assist in setting up the display of student art projects. Volunteer responsibilities:
» Plan the event and invite school families and friends to attend
» Organize fun activities and games for the children
» Arrange for family entertainment and refreshments
» Set up the student art exhibits.
Staff Appreciation CelebrationMay 8-12, 2006
Volunteers organize a special event to thank the St. Mark’s staff for their service to the School. Volunteer responsibilities:
» Plan and define the theme for the celebration
» Coordinate the preparation and delivery of food items, which includes breakfast, lunch and special snacks.



Programs

School Lunches
The Parents’ Association facilitates the school lunch program. Lunch chairs and individual volunteers are needed throughout year. Lunch orders are processed in August and January of the current school year. Volunteers are needed for the following lunches:

Lunch Chair responsibilities:
» Chair the designated lunch for the entire school year
» Process student, faculty and staff lunch orders
» Place orders with the lunch vendor
» Coordinate individual volunteers to serve lunch each week.

Individual volunteer responsibilities:
» Assist the lunch chair by being available on the assigned day of choice for approximately two and one half hours of time from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
» Set up lunch supplies
» Organize delivered meals and serve lunch to students
» Clean up and return unused supplies to the storage area.

Middle School Parent Committee
The Middle School Parent Committee works with the Parents’ Association, Middle School Director, and school staff to plan programs for the middle school grades. Volunteer responsibilities:
» Chair or participate on a committee for designated middle school functions
» Coordinate events and socials, such as the Science Fair, career days, High School Night, honors breakfasts, talent show, dances and picnics.
Parent Ambassadors
Parent Ambassadors welcome new families to St. Mark’s. Parent Ambassadors responsibilities:
» Call and welcome new families to St. Mark’s
» Answer questions families may have about the School
» Host new families at the Fellowship Gathering.
Room Parents
Room parents assist the teachers with classroom activities and parties. Room parent responsibilities:
» Meet with teachers to discuss activities requiring parent involvement
» Coordinate volunteers to assist with activities
» Obtain supplies and prepare the classroom for the event.
Miscellaneous Volunteer Placement
Volunteers provide assistance in areas outside the classroom as needed, for example, escorting students for school pictures, making phone calls, working in the copy center, assisting with mailings, or working in the Media Center. Responsibilities will vary based on the assigned task.
